Saga Sports 3 - 0 Milton & Fulston Utd (28-01-12)

Milton travelled down to Hythe to face fifth placed Saga Sports looking to build on last weeks win. However they came away empty handed after gifting their hosts with all three goals via simple mistakes. Manager Slater commented I was forced to make a few changes due to work commitments, however we had a decent side out and were more than capable of getting something from the game. Watching grown men make schoolboy errors was not good enough Saga punished us its that simple. But we've got to pick ourselves up and learn from days like today. Things are tight at the bottom but we've got more than enough quality in the squad to string some results together and push up the table. Next week see Milton host Coney Hall at UKP kick off 2.45

Milton & Fulston Utd 2 – 1 AFC Sevenoaks (21-01-12)

M&Fs fight for survival got off to an ideal start picking up three valuable points at the weekend. Stuart Slater took his new look squad into the game which saw only one survivor from the players he inherited. Having seen the arranged midweek friendly with Sittingbourne called off at the last minute due to a freezing pitch, M&F took a while to settle down with most of players only playing their second game together. M&F had the lions share of early possession and should have taken the lead when Michael Green saw his effort from the edge of the box tipped onto the bar by the visitors keeper. Minutes later M&F were again denied by the woodwork when Leigh Hales effort from ten yards cannoned of the upright. Green again broke through and saw his tame shot saved when he really should have squared the ball to Hales who had the empty net at his mercy. Another fine save from the visiting keeper kept the scores level as M&Fs dominance continued. With what seemed their first attack the visitors took the lead on thirty five minutes very much against the run of play after a good passage of play down the right the winger outpaced the defender and squared the ball which was dispatched past the helpless Michael Neat in goal. Hales again almost scored but he was unable to convert at the far post after a great run a nd cross down the left from Ashley Baverstock. The second half was more of the same with M&F controlling the game, hitting the woodwork again and also squandering a couple of decent chances. Sevenoaks had the chance to extend their lead with a rare attack but this time Neat was on hand to turn the ball away. With a few tired legs due to lack of games Danny Cheyney, Michael Holden and Jamie Holden were introduced to the action with M&F pushing to try and get something from the game. M&Fs perseverance finally paid off in the seventieth minute the ball was played through to Baverstock, the visiting keeper this time had a rush of blood leaving Baverstock to turn and slot into and empty net for the equaliser. Ten minutes later M&F got a deserved second, when Jamie Holden broke down the right a delivered a pin point ball to the near post where Hales was on hand to slot past the keeper. Stu Slater said after the game. I was standing on the line thinking it was not going to be our day, we controlled the game and yet chance after chance went begging. Its good to get off to a winning start and a lot of players got ninety minutes under their belts too. Ive still got a couple to come back which will give some competiton for places. It was a decent performance, one which we can improve on with fitness, but I thought Andrew Mannering, Tom Nunn and Neil Miller who I think hasn't pulled his boots on for over a year, in particular were outstanding. Next Saturday M&F travel to Hythe to take on fifth placed Saga Sports.
